MISTER K. This sculpture looks as though it stepped straight off the enchanted stage of an old-time circus, an explosion of contrasts that captures the gaze and never lets it go. The project comes to life as a blown glass sculpture combined with solid elements: the main face, in a transparent and almost lunar crystal, animates through sharp, bold black lines that trace its features, recalling the heavy makeup of a pensive clown. On either side, the glass catches fire: the masses of vibrant red and orange open up like two wings ready for flight, enhanced by colors achieved through submerged polychrome glass sheets (veline) and dynamic hot-applied relief decorations that enrich the medium with physical texture and three-dimensionality, echoing the liveliness of the circus world. Anchoring this burst of circus energy to the ground is a solid base in cobalt blue and orange.
